VF Says Denim Brand Founder Used Marks After Sale

Law360, New York (November 3, 2011, 3:19 PM EDT) -- VF Corp., which bought clothing company Rock & Republic Enterprises Inc. out of bankruptcy in March, sued R&R's founder Monday in New York for allegedly breaking the terms of an asset sale agreement by selling cosmetics boasting the brand's name.

VF alleges that before, during and after R&R's bankruptcy proceedings, which resulted in the company's intellectual property assets being sold to the plaintiff, founder Michael Ball transferred numerous company marks to himself.
