Prepaid Calling Card Cos. Cheated Customers: Ill. AG

Law360, New York (November 3, 2011, 6:43 PM EDT) -- The Illinois attorney general on Thursday sued two companies that provide international calling cards mostly to immigrant communities, claiming they hid scores of fees and surcharges from customers and delivered far fewer minutes than advertised.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan launched lawsuits in Illinois state court against Chicago-based NTI Inc. — which does business as Noor Telecom — along with Carlsbad, Calif.-based NobelTel LLC, which does business as Ajax Telecom, Bane Telecom and NCP Telecom.
