NY Court Won't Revive Firm's Suit Against Fox Rothschild

Law360, New York (November 3, 2011, 6:18 PM EDT) -- A New York appeals court on Thursday upheld a lower court's dismissal of a suit lodged by dissolved law firm Akabas & Cohen that claimed Fox Rothschild LLP improperly profited from cases a former Akabas partner brought to it.

Akabas' claims alleging its former name partner Richard Cohen took four litigation files worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to Fox Rothschild, which allegedly didn't pay Akabas — now Akabas & Sproule — for the files, dismissed with prejudice by state Supreme Court Judge Richard B. Lowe...
