Righthaven's NewsBlaze Copyright Suit Tossed

Law360, New York (November 7, 2011, 1:32 PM EST) -- A Nevada federal judge on Friday threw out copyright holding company Righthaven LLC’s suit alleging copyright infringement by online news outfit NewsBlaze LLC, finding that Righthaven did not have legal standing to sue the site.

The decision is the latest in a series of setbacks for Righthaven as it seeks to enforce a strategic alliance agreement with Las Vegas-based Stephens Media LLC, which owns 75 newspapers in 10 states, that purports to allow Righthaven to sue for copyright infringement and violations of the fair-use doctrine....
