Int'l Paper Seeks Help From Packaging Co. For NJ Cleanup

Law360, New York (November 7, 2011, 6:37 PM EST) -- International Paper Co. and a Georgia-Pacific LLC unit lodged a suit Friday against a consumer packaging company, claiming it should help pay for the cleanup of a New Jersey Superfund site under a 40-year-old spin-off agreement.

Rexam Inc. is liable for all of the costs related to pollution caused by certain packaging operations at a site in Alexandria, N.J., and a portion of the costs for other pollution at the site, but it has not paid International Paper and Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP for those costs,...
