EU Raids SKF, Other Bearings Cos. Over Antitrust Concerns

Law360, New York (November 8, 2011, 11:58 AM EST) -- The European Commission raided SKF AB and other rolling bearings makers on Tuesday, taking a preliminary step in addressing concerns that they may have violated European Union antitrust rules.

The EC announced that it had carried out “unannounced inspections at the premises of companies active in the industry of bearings for automotive and industrial use,” without referring to any specific businesses.

Also on Tuesday, SKF said that EC representatives had visited the company's facilities in Sweden and Germany, looking “to gather information about possible anti-competitive behavior...
