Judge Tells Westar To Cough Up Legal Fees

Law360 (July 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has ordered Westar Energy Inc. to provide an advance for legal fees to a former company executive named as a defendant in a shareholder lawsuit.

In a decision issued Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, Judge Julie A. Robinson ordered Westar to advance 50% of the legal fees and expenses for Douglas Lake's out-of-state counsel, Hughes, Hubbard & Reed, and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP.
