Sens. Press Commerce, FTC For Consumer Privacy Reports

Law360, New York (November 9, 2011, 5:00 PM EST) -- Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and John McCain, R-Ariz., asked the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday for final reports on consumer privacy protections, saying they hadn't published ultimate recommendations after revealing significant gaps in privacy protection in draft reports last year.

The senators, who introduced the Commercial Privacy Bill of Rights in April, said self-regulation was not enough to protect consumers from unscrupulous businesses.
