Viacom, Others Pay $7.5M In ‘Making The Band’ Rights Row

Law360, New York (November 9, 2011, 5:37 PM EST) -- Viacom Inc. and other targets of a contract and copyright lawsuit brought in Florida by the bankruptcy trustee for the estate of boy-band impresario Lou Pearlman over the MTV show “Making the Band” settled the suit for $7.5 million on Monday.

U.S. District Judge John Antoon dismissed the suit on Monday, after a bankruptcy court blessed the $7.5 million deal between the Chapter 11 trustee Soneet Kapila and defendants Viacom, MTV Networks, Viacom International Inc., Bad Boy Films Inc. and Bad Boy Records LLC.
