Mosaid, Samsung Settle DRAM Patent Litigation

Law360, New York (January 18, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- South Korea’s Samsung Electronics has agreed to take a license to settle an increasingly embarrassing patent infringement lawsuit brought by Canadian memory-chip maker Mosaid Technologies.

The agreement brings an end to the case, brought by Samsung Electronics in September 2001 in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, in which the judge repeatedly sided with Mosaid amid accusations Samsung destroyed key evidence.

Under the terms of settlement, Samsung will receive a five year license to the entire Mosaid patent portfolio. Samsung will also...
