O2Micro Settles LCD Patent Case With Sony

Law360, New York (July 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- O2Micro International Ltd. and Sony Corp. said Monday that they had settled a long-running patent infringement lawsuit over back light inverters for liquid crystal display monitors and televisions.

The terms of the preliminary settlement were not disclosed. However, the two companies did request a stay of all case deadlines until Aug. 30 to provide additional time to finalize the agreement.

Meanwhile, O2Micro will push ahead with charges against the other two defendants in the case, Microsemi Corp. and Rohm Co. Ltd.
