Judge Refuses To Grant Shelter To KPMG Execs

Law360, New York (July 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The federal judge overseeing the illegal tax shelter case against 16 former executives at KPMG has declined to let the officers off the hook just yet, ruling that the defendants have not quite met the burden of proof necessary to earn a case dismissal.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan On Monday decided that the KPMG executives had to provide more proof that they had suffered in the wake of federal prosecutors' illegally urging KPMG to cut off their legal resources.
