NY Ruling Shows Lifetime Work Contracts Die Young: Atty

Law360, New York (November 15, 2011, 7:48 PM EST) -- A New York appeals court ruling nixing the lifetime employment contract of a former nonprofit art foundation employee last week highlighted the widespread opposition to such agreements by the courts, an attorney representing the foundation said Tuesday.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York on Nov. 10 affirmed a lower court ruling that the alleged lifetime employment contract of Joan Banach, former vice president of the Dedalus Foundation Inc., was unenforceable.
