Butterball To Shell Out $4M In Don, Doff Class Action Deal

Law360, New York (November 17, 2011, 7:59 PM EST) -- Butterball LLC reached a $4 million settlement Thursday in North Carolina with a class of turkey processing plant workers who claim the company illegally failed to compensate them for protective wear donning and doffing time.

The settlement fund will cover all Butterball's payment obligations under this settlement other than attorneys’ fees and costs, and will be distributed in proportion to the number of weeks each class member worked at the company's Mount Olive, N.C., plant and was paid on a “gang-time” basis, according to a motion...
