Supplement Co. Found In Contempt Of FTC Decree

Law360, New York (November 18, 2011, 7:44 PM EST) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Friday granted the Federal Trade Commission's request to hold dietary supplement maker Lane Labs-USA Inc. in contempt for violating a consent judgment for deceptive advertising of a calcium supplement.

In his second time ruling on the motion, U.S. District Judge Dennis M. Cavanaugh said the violations — particularly the wide dissemination of unsubstantiated claims about AdvaCAL's effectiveness — were not inadvertent or the result of simple oversight.
