Aflac Strikes Deal In Action Over Child Premiums

Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 2:58 PM EST) -- An Aflac Inc. subsidiary agreed Monday to provide refunds to settle a putative class action in Montana claiming it collected medical insurance premiums for children no longer covered as dependents under their parents’  policies.

Plaintiff Pamela Guschausky asked the federal court to preliminarily approve a settlement agreement with American Family Life Assurance Co. of Columbus as well as certify a nationwide class of Aflac customers who have been denied or will be denied coverage for children not eligible to receive coverage as dependents.
