Chinese Sacks Didn’t Evade Duties: Commerce

Law360, San Diego (November 22, 2011, 3:31 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce on Tuesday initially held that Chinese producers were not illegally circumventing two duty orders by importing laminated woven sacks.

The agency issued a preliminary determination that the sacks printed with two colors were not evading anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders from August 2008.

The DOC initiated the review in April after Coating Excellence International LLC of Wisconsin and Polytex Fibers Corp. of Texas asked the agency in January to conduct a later-developed merchandise anti-circumvention inquiry for the sacks.
