Travelers Ordered To Defend Alfa Laval In Asbestos Suit

Law360, New York (November 23, 2011, 5:13 PM EST) -- A New York state judge on Tuesday ruled that Alfa Laval Inc. was entitled to defense costs from its primary insurer Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. in asbestos claims against the Swedish engineering equipment company.

Judge Debra A. James granted partial summary judgment in favor of Alfa, finding that Travelers had a duty to defend the company for asbestos claims in which Alfa is charged with direct liability.
