Court Holds ISP Resonsible For Illegal Downloads

Law360, New York (July 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A European judge has sided with a copyright group in a landmark decision, ruling an Internet service provider is responsible for illegal file sharing on its network.

Belgian music copyright group SABAM, which launched the case three years ago against Internet service provider Scarlet, said in a statement released Wednesday that the ruling by the court of first authority in Brussels was an important legal victory.
