NLRB Advances Rule To Speed Up Union Elections

Law360, New York (November 30, 2011, 6:18 PM EST) -- The National Labor Relations Board voted along party lines Wednesday to approve a resolution to implement a scaled-back version of the board's June proposal to speed up the union election process.

Agency Chairman Mark Pearce and member Craig Becker voted in favor of the resolution, which has the stated goal of cutting down on unneeded litigation, while Brian Hayes, the board's sole Republican, opposed it and warned against issuing a final rule without three affirmative votes in favor of it.
