11th Circ. OKs Ala. County Official's Bribery Sentence

Law360, New York (November 29, 2011, 7:15 PM EST) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Tuesday affirmed a 10-year prison sentence for an ex-commissioner of now-bankrupt Jefferson County, Ala., who was convicted of taking bribes to award engineering contracts for a $3 billion sewer project.

Ex-Commissioner Gary White was convicted in 2008 of conspiracy and bribery for taking $22,000 in cash in exchange for awarding 48 contracts and $1.1 million in fees to engineering firm U.S. Infrastructure when he was heading Jefferson County's environmental services department.
