DOL Tries To Pull Cargill Contracts Over Hiring Bias

Law360, New York (November 29, 2011, 7:56 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Labor’s contract compliance office lodged a suit Tuesday against Cargill Meat Solutions, seeking the cancellation of more than $60 million in government contracts held by the meat conglomerate after it allegedly discriminated against job applicants.

In a suit filed with the DOL’s Office of Administrative Law Judges, the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs claims Cargill’s Springdale, Ark., facility unlawfully rejected over 4,000 qualified female, white, black, Hispanic and Native American applicants.
