Anadarko Joins Enviro Suit Over Gulf Drilling Leases

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 1:50 PM EST) -- Anadarko Petroleum Corp. was allowed to intervene Wednesday in a suit alleging that federal regulators broke environmental law by granting drilling leases after the Deepwater Horizon blowout, after the company argued that it had spent $127 million to obtain 38 of the leases being challenged.

A D.C. federal judge agreed that Anadarko, which also owned a 25 percent stake in the Macondo oil field well where the Deepwater Horizon was drilling when it blew, had an interest in defending the case.
