Plan For Single EU Patent Moves Ahead

Law360, New York (December 1, 2011, 7:30 PM EST) -- A planned single patent system for the European Union got a boost Thursday when the European Parliament's legal affairs committee gave its approval to a proposal that includes a unified patent court.

The plan still faces many hurdles on its way to going into effect, as it must be approved by the full European Parliament and all of the 25 EU countries involved in the negotiations.
