Drugmakers Sue Wockhardt Over Tricor ANDA

Law360, New York (December 7, 2011, 9:03 PM EST) -- Generic drug maker Wockhardt Ltd. was sued for patent infringement Tuesday in New Jersey federal court by four drug companies over attempts to manufacture a generic version of Abbott Laboratories' cholesterol drug Tricor.

Mumbai, India-based Wockhardt was hit with a suit by Abbott partner Alkermes Pharma Ireland Ltd. and Fournier Laboratories Ireland Ltd. for allegedly infringing two patents covering Tricor, and by Laboratoires Fournier SA and Abbott over three other patents covering the cholesterol medication.

Fournier Laboratories and Laboratoires Fournier are Abbott subsidiaries.
