Law360, New York (July 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Labor unions across the Western world appear to be in almost terminal membership decline. In the U.S., overall union membership has dropped from 15% to 13% over the past five years, and is now about 8% in the private sector. In France, union membership stands at around 9% of the workforce and is almost nonexistent in private-sector employment.
