France Telecom Loses Appeal In Illegal State Aid Case

Law360, New York (December 8, 2011, 3:08 PM EST) -- The European Union’s highest court ruled Thursday that France Telecom SA illegally benefited from French state aid from 1994 to 2002 through tax breaks, which gave the company a financial advantage over other firms.

The high court held that France Telecom was liable for more than €1 billion ($1.33 billion) in back taxes.
