US Seeks $10B Sanctions On EU In Airbus Subsidy Fight

Law360, New York (December 9, 2011, 12:32 PM EST) -- The U.S. asked the World Trade Organization on Friday for permission to impose up to $10 billion in trade sanctions on the EU, arguing that it had failed to comply with a WTO order to end subsidies for Airbus SAS.

The WTO ruled in April that the aid European countries provided to Airbus to launch new aircraft models ran afoul of trade rules. The EU said Dec. 1 that it had complied with the ruling and ended all of the prohibited subsidies.
