DOJ Seeks To Add $1M To Mass. $13M Cleanup Settlement

Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 8:34 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice sought on Friday to add $1 million in damages claimed by Massachusetts agencies to an existing $13 million Superfund-related settlement with four companies, including W.R. Grace and Co. and Covidien, formerly Tyco Healthcare.

If approved, W.R. Grace and Covidien will split the cost of the $1.1million payout with property owners BIM Investment Corp. and Shaffer Realty Nominee Trust to cover damages brought by Massachusetts' Division of Insurance and Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to a Walpole, Mass., site's natural resources....
