US DOT Awards $300M To Rail Projects In 4 States

Law360, New York (December 13, 2011, 5:52 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation announced on Monday $300 million in funding for train projects in four states, including Illinois and Utah, as the government continues to fund efforts to improve the nation's public transit system.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced an agreement to give $177 million to Illinois to help build a light-rail passenger train between Chicago and cities in Illinois and Iowa,  $116 million  to Utah to complete a light-rail transit service, and a combined $7 million to Washington D.C. and Georgia to go toward...
