Lawmakers Seek Crackdown On Russian Ferrovanadium

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2011, 5:36 PM EST) -- Three Ohio lawmakers on Tuesday urged the U.S. Department of Commerce to enforce strict trade regulations on Russian exports of ferrovanadium, saying the material is being used to circumvent existing trade duties and harming domestic suppliers.

Sens. Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown and Rep. Bob Gibbs said in a letter to Commerce that Russian exporters are sidestepping a 108 percent anti-dumping duty on ferrovanadium by shipping a nearly completed form of the product, vanadium pentoxide, to the U.S.
