Project Finance Attys Eye Europe As Fracking Spreads

Law360, New York (January 11, 2012, 7:52 PM EST) -- Efforts to tap potentially huge European shale gas reserves are setting the stage for a possible project finance boom on the other side of the Atlantic, despite opposition to the controversial extraction method, attorneys said.

Eyeing the success the method, known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, has had in the United States, countries like Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom have begun granting concessions to companies ranging from majors like Exxon Mobil Corp. to smaller exploratory oil and gas firms like Australia's Tamboran Resources Pty Ltd....
