U.S. Slow In Fostering Telecom Competition: Report

Law360, New York (July 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The United States has lagged behind a spate of European countries in promoting sustainable and effective competition in the telecommunications industry, according to a new report.

The Communications Association of Choice, or COMPTEL, said in a so-called regulatory scorecard released Thursday that the U.S. had ranked eighth among the 18 countries surveyed, behind the United Kingdom, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and Spain.
