Mirant Energy Pays $11M In DOJ Deal

Law360, New York (July 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The energy trading arm of Mirant Corp. will fork over $11 million to stave off criminal charges stemming from a probe into false natural gas price reports by former traders.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the agreement in a statement Thursday, saying in return for the multimillion-dollar penalty paid to the U.S. Treasury it would defer the filing of charges for 15 months.
