Hispanic De Beers VP Claims Racial Bias In CEO Promotion

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 2:11 PM EST) -- A Hispanic assistant vice president of De Beers Diamond Jewellers U.S. Inc. on Thursday accused the diamond retailer of racial discrimination for passing her over for a promotion to CEO in favor of an unqualified fashion industry executive.

In a suit filed in New York federal court, Desiree Charles claims De Beers brought in a less-qualified white woman for the CEO job and then forced Charles to train her.
