24 Hour Fitness Workers Want Arbitrations Kept In Calif.

Law360, New York (December 16, 2011, 6:12 PM EST) -- A slew of current and former employees with overtime claims against 24 Hour Fitness USA Inc. asked a judge Thursday to bar the health club chain from pursuing arbitration proceedings outside of the Northern District of California, accusing 24 Hour Fitness of forum shopping.

The plaintiffs are covered by a 2001 arbitration agreement with 24 Hour Fitness that does not contain a venue provision and filed 273 petitions to compel arbitration in the Northern District of California on Dec. 5, they said in their motion for...
