DOJ Extends Review Of International Paper's $4B Deal

Law360, New York (December 19, 2011, 5:29 PM EST) -- International Paper Co. has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to extend the antitrust review period for its proposed $4.3 billion takeover of corrugated packaging company Temple-Inland Inc., the companies said Monday.

International Paper and Temple-Inland Inc. have agreed with the DOJ to extend the regulatory review period for the deal until Jan. 27, the companies said. The companies had previously promised the DOJ they would not finalize their merger prior to Dec. 31.
