BP Gets More Time To Answer Local Gov't Spill Claims

Law360, New York (December 21, 2011, 7:03 PM EST) -- A magistrate judge on Wednesday gave two BP PLC units and other defendants in the multidistrict litigation over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill more time to respond to claims from local U.S. and Mexican governments, rejecting objections from three Mexican states.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan granted a request from BP Exploration & Production Inc., BP American Production Co., Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Anadarko E&P Co. LP and Halliburton Energy Services Inc. to extend the deadline to respond to the governments' remaining claims against them to Jan....
