YRC Unit Hit With $22M Hostile Workplace Verdict

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 8:30 PM EST) -- A New Jersey jury has awarded a former dispatcher for a YRC Worldwide Inc. unit over $22 million for claims he was subjected to a hostile work environment based on perceived sexual orientation, an attorney for the plaintiff said on Thursday.

The jury found that Scott Specchio, who worked at YRC regional transportation company New Penn Motor Express Inc., was entitled to the damages — including $15 million in punitive damages — under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, according to his attorney Ravi Sattiraju of...
