Carlyle Scoops Up Belgian Emissions Detection Co.

Law360, New York (December 22, 2011, 7:50 PM EST) -- The Carlyle Group LP has purchased Belgian emissions monitoring company The Sniffers NV from majority owner Belgian private equity firm Creafund NV, according to Thursday news reports.

The transaction, financed through Carlyle's European technology fund Carlyle Europe Technology Partners II, closed Wednesday, Dow Jones reported.

The Sniffers conducts one of the largest fugitive emission monitoring operations outside the U.S., in which it detects gas or vapor leaks from pressurized equipment used in the oil refinery process that can increase refinery pollutants and cause safety problems....
