Trading Co. Fights Copyright Suit Over Software

Law360, New York (July 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Online foreign trading firm Visual Trading Systems has asked a court to dismiss a copyright infringement case accusing it of illegally modifying the software program at the heart of its business.

In a memorandum of law supporting the motion to dismiss filed in the Manhattan district court Friday, defendant Visual Trading Systems and its predecessors Capital Market Services Inc. and Lincolnet Inc. claim to have paid “substantial sums” to own the trading platform.
