Advanced Micro Aims To Dismiss Antitrust Action

Law360, New York (July 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is taking steps to throw out an antitrust class action accusing the graphics chip maker of price-fixing, arguing that the direct purchasers and indirect purchasers of graphics processing units failed to state a claim for relief.

AMD, which is tied into the action along with Nvidia Corp. and AMD’s subsidiary, ATI Technologies Inc., contended Monday that the purchasers’ amended complaints were unable to show why AMD should be held liable for any antitrust violations stemming from its association with ATI.
