Grant Thornton Can't Force Tax Atty Arbitration: Court

Law360, Chicago (January 4, 2012, 7:06 PM EST) -- An Illinois appeals court on Friday overturned an order forcing an ex-Grant Thornton LLP tax attorney to arbitrate his indemnification claims against the accounting firm instead of pursuing them in court, finding the parties had no written arbitration agreement.

The appeals court reversed the Illinois trial court's order compelling former Grant Thornton principal A. Blair Stover Jr. to arbitrate his claims against the firm and remanded the case for further proceedings.
