EU Continues To Weigh Antitrust Charges For Google

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 2:24 PM EST) -- The European Commission has not yet decided whether to bring formal antitrust charges against Google Inc. amid a bevy of complaints from rivals and partners about the Internet search giant's conduct, the regulator's competition chief said Wednesday.

While the antitrust watchdog is treating the case as a priority, the complexity of the issues involved requires investigators to take care in reviewing the matter, Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said in a written response to a question from a member of the European Parliament.
