Judge Approves $20M Lawyers Fee In Securities Case

Law360, New York (July 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two plaintiffs law firms have prevailed in their bid for a 30% cut of a $65 million class action settlement with investment firm Bisys Group Inc., after a judge rejected claims the bill was obscene.

The firms, Kirby McInerney & Squire LLP and Cauley Bowman Carney & Williams PLLC, will pocket more than $20 million in attorneys' fees and expenses for their role in negotiating the deal for Bisys shareholders, who claimed the firm and certain of its executives misled investors to artificially boost the price...
