Stanford Wants Doc's Mental Fitness Testimony Tossed

Law360, New York (January 5, 2012, 8:06 PM EST) -- R. Allen Stanford on Thursday asked a Texas federal judge to strike a doctor's testimony that he is mentally competent to stand trial for allegedly orchestrating a $7 billion Ponzi scheme, saying there was serious conflict with the doctor's report.

Stanford's motion to strike Dr. Robert Cochrane's testimony says the doctor was wrong when he said Stanford's former attorney, Kent Schaffer, had told him Stanford was no longer having memory problems following a brain injury caused by a 2009 assault in prison.
