Indian Tribes Lose Fight Over Massive Nevada Gold Mine

Law360, New York (January 6, 2012, 2:26 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a suit brought by Indian tribes seeking to halt a massive Barrick Gold Corp. mine in Nevada, finding that the project complies with environmental regulations in light of a new impact statement.

U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks denied the tribes' motion for summary judgment on Wednesday and awarded summary judgment to Barrick, which intervened in the case the tribes initially brought against the U.S. Department of the Interior.
