Macfarlanes Guides SEP In £95M Cleantech Fund Buy

Law360, New York (January 9, 2012, 1:01 PM EST) -- Private equity firm Scottish Equity Partners has purchased a portfolio of cleantech companies from the venture capital arm of British energy company SSE PLC to anchor a new £95 million ($147 million) buyout fund, the companies announced Monday.

SEP acquired a portfolio of nine clean energy companies from SSE Ventures for the newly launched Environmental Energies Fund, which is backed by four private equity investors and includes SSE as a significant stakeholder, the buyer said. The terms of the acquisition are confidential.
