HP, EMC To Settle Storage Patent Suit Out Of Court

Law360, New York (February 8, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. and EMC Corp. have agreed to settle their protracted patent dispute out of court, taking their litigation over computer storage technology out of Massachusetts federal court and into binding arbitration.

The lawsuit, originally filed by of storage management company EMC against rival StorageApps in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts in October 2000, asserted that StorageApps infringed three of EMC's software patents relating to the creation of identical copies, or mirrors, of system files.
