Reps. Slam Facebook's Explanation Of Data-Tracking Patent

Law360, New York (January 10, 2012, 7:55 PM EST) -- Reps. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Joe Barton, R-Texas, on Monday criticized Facebook Inc.'s answers to their questions about its attempt to patent a data-tracking system, saying the company seemed to be saying one thing about its plans for the technology while doing another.

The lawmakers, leaders of the Bipartisan Congressional Privacy Caucus, said they were unsatisfied by Facebook's explanation of a February 2011 patent application for a method of "tracking information about the activities of users of a social networking system while on another domain.” ...
